Donation helps fund Wig Salon

Residents and staff of Traditions of Hanover raised $1,000 and provided three wigs for Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley.

The offerings will be used to fund the Wig Salon. This free program provides wigs for all individuals experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatments to regain self-confidence.

Seniors enjoy a spa day with help from Moravian University students

Valentine’s Day is not just about romantic love. At Traditions of Hanover, residents indulged in a spa day to bring attention to the importance of self-care and self-love.

The spa day experience featured gourmet refreshments like mimosas, tea sandwiches, and chocolate-covered strawberries.

Speech-language pathology students from Moravian University also helped pamper residents by giving mini manicures, a quintessential self-care activity.

“I enjoyed the whole experience,” resident Rosemarie Schadle said. “The students were so good, so nice.”

The welcomed visitors made meaningful connections with their newfound friends, helping make beaded bracelets and sugar scrubs, playing bingo, singing karaoke, and learning about their lives.

“This is an awesome activity to bring everyone together on Valentine’s Day to celebrate love and kindness and what it means to be happy,” Katie Anne Dick, one of the speech-language pathology students, said.

Another student, Nicole Bull, added, “Today, for me, is a day for us to share love and memories through conversations and activities together.”

Seniors collect goods for local organization

A retirement living community in Hanover Township is always looking out for ways to help their neighbors—both big and small.

Residents from Traditions of Hanover worked together, collecting items for New Bethany Ministries, an interfaith nonprofit organization. Its main location is in southside Bethlehem.

"There are plenty of ways to get involved and there are many wonderful outreach programs like New Bethany Ministries creating a positive impact on others' lives," Cathy Heimsoth, executive director at Traditions of Hanover, said.

New Bethany Ministries provides food support, hygiene support, wellness programming, transitional housing, and more to help individuals and families working toward self-sufficiency.

Traditions of Hanover residents donated nonperishable food and toiletry items.
